Day 3 Speed RB Options

Everyone here seems to agree the Lions need to address the speed back spot. I'm also of the opinion that they cannot address this with any of their first three picks. With that in mind I put together some notes on players that the Lions could select with day 3 picks, so 5-7th round selections.

John White, Utah
5'8" 186lbs

Played 2 years at a JuCo prior to joining Utah in 2011.
1500 yards in 2011 and 1000 in 2012
Very good speed, agile, and can make defenders miss
No apparent major injury history
13 rec in 2011 and 15 in 2012, probably not a pass-catching threat

Onterio McCalebb, Auburn
5'11" 173lbs

Excellent speed, demonstrated on KR TDs and other long plays
32 rec in 2011, so he can catch the ball
No apparent major injury history
Returned kickoffs at Auburn for 4 years (2 TD)
Played 4 years, but never more than 112 carries in a season

Chris Thompson, Florida St.
5'8" 187lbs

Top end speed, lots of long TD runs, catches
Bad injury history
Missed 8.99 games in 2012 after "breaking his back on first carry vs. Wake Forest"
Missed 6 games in 2012 with torn ACL
Potential of a 1st rounder, health of a UDFA

Dominique Whaley, Oklahoma
5'11" 204lbs

I think Oklahoma has produced some good RBs...
Fractured ankle in 2011 and didn't play too much in 2012
Productive as a walk-on at Oklahoma
Not exactly a speed back, but fast enough

I personally like White the best. I think he will be available in the 6th or 7th round, he has a clean injury history, and had 2 solid years of production at Utah.

Let me know what you think about these players or any others I may have missed.
