Notice how the title of the fan post says "Miracle's" and not "Miracle"? Well that is not a typo.. I not only want to share about the last minute miracle during the game, but about the last minute miracle that allowed me (and my brother) to be there! It was my first professional game..
About two months ago about 8 of my best friends, 6 of which are Dallas fans, 1 of which is a Green Bay fan, decided they were going to go to the Detroit-Dallas game! They asked my wife and I if we wanted in, but unfortunately we had to decline at the time. My wife is currently 26 weeks pregnant with a little girl (we have a 12 month old at home already), and it is money saving time. Naturally, I hated saying no! My wife was a little less regrettable about the situation seeing as how she is a Kansas City fan.. She was born in Kansas City! Anyways... Every week that went by, I was hating myself more and more for not sucking it up and buying the two tickets for $232.00, but I had accepted the reality that i would be watching from home.
Then comes this past Saturday the 26th.. I had had a pretty uneventful Saturday seeing as how it was U of M's bye week. At about 11:30pm that night I get a text saying 2 of the tickets were available and being offered for $150.00. I took this as a sign. I bought them. So a half hour drive both ways later I was home with 2 tickets, and setting my alarm for 3 hours later, that way I could I could pick my brother up (my wife decided to stay home anyways) and meet my friends and the car pool in time! Then we started the 3 hour trek to Detroit from Grand Rapids!
After a couple hours of tailgating, my brother and I joined my friends on the walk to Ford Field. The atmosphere was Electric. Sitting next to the Dallas fans and the Green Bay fan (who naturally was cheering for Dallas), my brother and I took turns jumping and cheering with them. Though admittedly, they did a bit more cheering due to the 4 turnovers. Regardless, I have no voice today due to the excessive cheering and chanting. Especially come that last minute drive! I can't really explain chills and the feeling I got while watching Stafford connect pass after pass seemingly effortlessly. And watching Calvin do his thing, well, I would pay $150.00 just to watch the guy warm up! The experience was truly one of the best of my life! And I cant wait to go again next year!
I just want to end by saying that I feel bad for the fans of both teams that got up and left with 3 minutes left.. But I can't! And I don't! I have never cared for the fans give up and go the moment things seem to done! I just believe in supporting your team.. Win or lose!
