Send Montrell Owens to IR.... pick up a Corner (Maybe Perrish Cox).

Detroit saw its first real look at Montell Owens and it seems to have been only a brief one. Montell Owens has re-aggravated his knee. Now, I know Schwartz has mentioned that the injury seems to be short term (aren't all injuries short term when Coach Schwartz is talking about them). Instead of keeping Owens on the 53 man roster, What if the Lions send Owens to IR to get his knee better for next season and use his spot for a healthier player?

Our special teams have looked pretty good in the recent weeks. Lions coverage units are getting down the field and making kick/punt returns limited to short gains. So, maybe we should look to boost our secondary with adding an extra corner for the long hall to the playoffs. Last year, we went through 10 different combinations within our secondary and this year we have had players nursing minor injuries, but it might be a good idea to look into an older vet that might be able to play out the last of the season as a reserve corner in our secondary.

Antoine Winfield, Marcus Trufant, and Nnamdi Asomugha, are all free agents that could be good to add to the Lions as corner help for our young players and to bolster our corner position through the end of the season. I know what most of us are thinking when we hear those names.... more old, washed up vets with barely anything in the tank.... Trust me, I was thinking that as well, but we have to look at the picture of what they could add in experience to our secondary and the fact that they would enter the team at a point in the season with fewer amount of games left to play. This could help with the wear and tear problem with older vets.Their skills and knowledge could help in the long run with our young corners Slay, Bentley, Green, and Greenwood. This was just a thought....

A recent corner that was dropped from the 49ers, Perrish Cox, is now a free agent. Maybe we should look at the 6' 195lb corner. He had good coverage skills at Oklahoma State and could provide that veteran boost to our secondary. Who knows this could be a good thing for him to have a fresh start on a new team. Marcus Cooper (7th round pick of San Fran) was cut at the final round of roster cuts and now he is being raved about on sporting news sites and PFF. maybe we could get that kind of production from Perrish Cox.
