Calvin Johnson is the best non Quarterback player in the National Football League. He combines freakish athleticism with the grace of a gazelle. Calvin Johnson makes the defense account for him on every play and rightfully so because he abuses teams when they do and when they don't triple team him. Calvin Johnson is also just one man, Calvin is one man that is allowing history to repeat itself ala Barry Sanders. And all of that being said its time we both move on.
Career wise its in Calvins best interest to go to an organization (Patriots, Niners, Ravens etc...) that is established in winning and has the support system to make Calvin a contender. Franchise wise we would be able to get multiple young talented players that conform to the new regimes model. In an ideal situation we'd get a HC that runs similar schemes so that there wouldn't be as much of a roster turnover but more of a plugging of holes
Calvin is great but he gets injured, Calvin gets frustrated with losing (doesn't hustle for tackles after interceptions), and deserves a chance of being a winner. The lions organization needs to trade him for picks and/or young established talent which would allow us to take advantage of the new CBA. The extra that left over we'd be able to invest in vet players and personnel that knows how to win.
The same applies for Matt Stafford, trade him to the Texans (hometown kid) for their first and get a young QB draft that can learn to win with a new staff of winners.
Staffords to comfortable in his situation and really needs a change of scenery to boom; he would be to expensive of a player to unlearn his bad habits with the new regime, the lions organization needs to flip him for the chance for the new guys to install their own people. Calvin deserves the chance to win, and unfortunately we aren't the place for him to learn to win lets not put him through another rebuild!!!!
And this is the reason why I say our best need to go.
Lemme throw this out there while I'm at it, new coach candidate Perry Fewell we have the assets (dline) for him to be very successful and he comes from a winning culture.
