I think they hired him for a reason, not just to help out at the draft, but to have an insurance policy against this regime failing yet again and they have. I have to give credit to Mayhew for bringing some legit talent to the Lions, but, they have been incapable of turning all of those great players into a team. I think we have seen the plateau of Schwartz and Mayhew and it was, sadly, the 2011 season. Look at the Denver Broncos. 90% of the players on that team were drafted by Xanders and they were just a QB away from where they are right now. I'm not naïve enough to compare Stafford to Manning but you can't argue the raw talent there and the weapons he has. I think were one solid draft away from a championship with the right leadership at the wheel. Maybe a legit younger No.2 receiver to learn under Burleson's twilight seasons and Calvin's example and a few options at corner that won't play for another team the next season after being cut or riding the practice squad for the next few years. What am I saying?... I think Xanders should be the next GM and piece together the Franchise going forward.
