Figured I would throw my Lions mock into the mix for 2013. This draft is pretty intriguing because the lack of a consensus #1 player available and the earliest picking teams having multiple positions of need. Personally, I'm hoping the Lions find a way to trade out of the #5 pick but I'm not sure that will happen. Just to keep it simple, my mock doesnt have any of the trades I'm hoping for. Well, let's get to it.
st Round - Bjorne Werner, DE FSU - High motor, productive, with good instincts and skills. Less flash/"upside" than Moore but is the safer pick and is a Day 1 starter at DE. Could be a star when paired with players the caliber of Suh or Fairley.
nd Round - Barrett Jones, C/G/T Alabama - This guy can do it all. He can immediately be plugged in at G to replace Peterman or, if they cut Raiola, he could start for us at C for years to come.
rd Round - Jordan Poyer, CB Oregon State - I've watched some tape on this kid and he's ridiculously quick out of cuts. He's able to drive back on and get back balls that he looked to have no chance at. He's athletic and a consistent tackler. He's got 2nd round skills and value but I think he'll slide into the 3rd after a 2nd round run on QBs.
th Round (Predicted Supplementary Pick) - Mike Gillislee, HB Florida - Lions staff got a good look at him at the Senior Bowl. Speedy kick out of Florida with good hands. Could be the speed back the Lions missed with the Best injuries.
