Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson is still unsure about whether he will retire or continue his NFL career. Before the end of the season, Hanson said he was going to take some time before making a decision, and he said on Saturday that he still needs a few more weeks. That's how undecided he is right now.
Although Hanson isn't sure what he will do just yet, he has made sure to stay in contact with the Lions, and he told the Oakland Press on Saturday that he is taking his time because he wants to ensure that he makes the right decision.
"I told them I really want to take my time and make sure that I’m not making a mistake by coming back and not going to regret that I left if I do,’’ Hanson said. "So I’m just taking my time.’’
This seems to be the closest Hanson has come to retiring. I would still be pretty surprised if he actually does walk away from the game, but it's definitely a possibility. If the Lions lose Hanson, they will have to add kicker to their list of offseason needs.
