Jarvis Jones being removed from draft boards because of spinal stenosis?

Kevin Liles-US PRESSWIRE

According to a report, some teams are removing Jarvis Jones from their draft board because of medical red flags.

Earlier this week, Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones was reportedly cleared by doctors, a good sign for his draft stock and for teams potentially interested in taking him. Concerns about his spinal stenosis aren't going away, though. In fact, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports that some teams are shying away from even considering Jones as a potential pick because of his medical red flags.

Ultimately, where Jones lands in the 2013 NFL Draft will come down to when a team feels comfortable taking a risk on him. Some teams won't have him on their draft board because their doctors won't sign off on him, while other teams will be comfortable taking a chance on him if their doctors do approve.

Where do the Detroit Lions stand in all of this? Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said on Friday that he is impressed with Jones, but that's probably all you will get from the team. If Jones is there at No. 5 when draft day rolls around, then maybe you will get an answer on if they are willing to take a chance on him.

Jones, by the way, isn't working out at the NFL Combine. Instead, he is choosing to focus on his pro day, according to Adam Schefter.
