I had this as a comment in the recent POD post: Lions reportedly have real interest in Reggie Bush, and I felt pretty smart after writing it, and I figured people were probably done reading the comments for that post; so I decided to make it a fan post to show everyone how smart I think I am, ha ha ;0)
I'm guaranteeing the Lions get Reggie! Here's Why:
Martins Mayhew said in his post season interview his biggest regret was not having the speed back because he expected Jahvid Best to return. If you understand corporate politics you understand what he is doing. He sold the ownership, and to some degree fans that this was the problem last season. He is selling this as the problem because of two reasons: 1 that was the biggest difference from the successful season they had in 2011, 2 it makes him not look like a total idiot because he has an understandable excuse that it was an unprecedented medical incident that sidelined Jahvid Best.
Now if you want me to get real deep with another example of why I’m on to Martin’s reasoning it’s because I work in racing and I see a lot of similarities in how a race team operates and is managed compared to a football team. When a race team performs pretty well one year, they often try not to change anything from the year before because they don’t want to screw it up. What happens is the really smart teams (Raves/49ers ala racing think #48 and Chad Kanus/Jimmy Johnson) actually evolve and try to change and improve constantly, which separates them from the team trying to copy what they did last. I could go on and on here… If you payed attention to the Daytona 500 last weekend, who won? the 48. and who practiced more than anyone over the speed weeks practice sessions? the 48. Who changed O coordinator mid season? Ravens. Who changed QB’s mid season? 49ers. Point is from MM’s comments I can tell he’s on the “copy last year approach”, probably because he’s afraid for his job, so he will sign Reggie Bush trying to get his team back to a copy of the team he knows worked to some degree.

Also a second point of what I wrote there I guessis that I don’t really think this is a championship approach… but the fan in me still hopes that I don’t have all the variables figured out yet, and I’m wrong. ;0)
