Offensive guard Stephen Peterman has been a free agent since he was released by the Detroit Lions back in February. Now, it looks like his time on the open market could be coming to an end, as Peterman has a meeting with the New York Jets set for Monday, according to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta.
Interestingly enough, the Jets are interested in Peterman as a replacement for offensive guard Brandon Moore, who was reportedly set to visit the Lions at one point. It's unclear if Moore's visit ever actually happened, as nothing was ever confirmed one way or another. In any case, Moore is still a free agent, so it's possible the Lions could eventually sign him as a replacement for Peterman.
Peterman was let go by the Lions in part because they wanted to upgrade the play of their starting right guard. Peterman wasn't getting the job done, and in need of cap space, the Lions elected to let him go. The Lions' search for Peterman's replacement is ongoing, and we likely won't get a clear idea of who the favorite is to replace him until after the draft.
If Peterman lands in New York, he would be set to return to Ford Field to face the Lions in Week 1 of the 2013 NFL preseason.
