Lions sign draft picks Ezekiel Ansah, Darius Slay

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions have signed all of their 2013 draft picks after getting deals done for Ezekiel Ansah and Darius Slay on Friday.

The Detroit Lions wasted little time in getting deals done for their nine 2013 draft picks. After signing their final seven picks on Wednesday and Thursday, the Lions signed their first two picks on Friday. They announced a deal for second-round pick Darius Slay on Friday morning, and news of a deal for first-round pick Ezekiel Ansah was announced shortly after.

What this news means is that the Lions have now signed all nine of their 2013 draft picks. They are actually the first team to sign all of their draft picks, and Ansah is only the second first-round pick to sign. He is the first player selected in the top 10 to get a deal done, so it appears he really wanted to get under contract.

The exact details of Ansah's deal aren't out yet, but Joel Corry expects it to be worth $18,594,499 over four years (with a team option for a fifth year). The deal will be fully guaranteed, according to Pro Football Talk, and Corry says it should include a signing bonus worth around $11,903,272.

Details aren't out for Slay's deal, either, but we know it will be for four years.

This news goes to show how much easier rookie contracts are to negotiate under the new CBA. Not only are holdouts basically a thing of the past, but now teams like the Lions are getting all of their draft picks signed before their rookie minicamp even begins. It's a wonderful thing.
