Nate Burleson already taking part in Lions OTAs

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson isn't 100 percent just yet, but he is healthy enough to practice.

It's safe to say that Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson is well ahead of schedule in his recovery from a broken leg. He said as much last month, and we got confirmation of this on Wednesday when he practiced without any limitations. Burleson apparently was told that he wouldn't return from leg surgery until July, but he's already back on the field for the Lions.

This is obviously good news, as Burleson should be good to go for training camp unless he suffers a setback. He admitted that he's not actually 100 percent healthy as of right now, but he already feels like he's playing at a "high level." From the Detroit News:

"It's as healed up as it's going to get," he said. "The good thing about being out there is I am playing at a high level and I am not 100 percent. When it gets stronger and I get endurance back in it, I will be back to playing with extreme confidence."

With Burleson's recovery going so well, the main question mark at wide receiver involves Ryan Broyles' comeback from another torn ACL. He did not take part in the Lions' OTA on Wednesday, indicating that he's not quite to the point where he can participate in on-the-field activities. Earlier this month, Broyles provided an update on his rehab by saying that he feels like he's "in the right direction," but there's no clear timetable for his return at this point.
