Larry Warford talks about making transition to NFL

Detroit Lions rookie Larry Warford recently talked about his transition from college to the NFL.

When the Detroit Lions released offensive guard Stephen Peterman back in February, they made it clear that changes were coming to their starting offensive line. Specifically at right guard, it appeared that guys like Bill Nagy and Rodney Austin would compete for the starting job, especially when the Lions didn't go out and sign a free agent to fill it.

The Lions did go out and draft a player to take over at right guard. They landed Kentucky's Larry Warford in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and he immediately became the favorite to replace Peterman in the starting lineup. He still obviously has to earn the starting job in training camp, but the Lions are counting on him to make a quick transition from college to the NFL. Here's what he recently had to say about how that transition is going (via the Lions' official site):

"It's a lot faster and there's a lot more install compared to my freshman year in college," Warford said of his adjustment to the NFL through the offseason training program. "There's so much more you have to learn; so many little intricacies I have to understand.

"We have a great group of guys helping me keep up and helping all us rookies, really."

Warford mentioned that he has been spending the last few weeks watching how his teammates on the O-line block in order to get a feel for them. Chemistry is a big part of having a successful offensive line, and Warford is trying to make sure he's on the same page as center Dominic Raiola and the other linemen.
