Louis Delmas injury: Lions safety provides update on how he's feeling

USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas estimates that while he isn't quite 100 percent just yet, he's getting close.

The last time we heard from Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas, he was quite upset over the status of his knee injury. At the time, Delmas was missing the Lions' minicamp because of the injury, and this came after he missed all of their OTAs. Understandably, he was frustrated that he couldn't be on the field with his teammates.

Delmas sounded much more upbeat during an interview with ESPN 96.1 on Wednesday. He provided an update on where he is in the recovery process, and he sounded much more optimistic about the situation moving forward. From MLive:

"I'm feeling great. I'm not all the way back 100 percent yet, but I can go around the range of 88 to 90 percent right now," Delmas told Sean Baligian on ESPN 96.1 Wednesday evening. "I still got a long road ahead of me. I plan on going through camp, trying to build my knee up as much as possible so I can go into the season 100 percent."

Simply getting to 100 percent in time for the start of the regular season is the main thing here. It'd be disappointing if Delmas can't fully participate in training camp, but there's no sense in rushing him back if he's not ready. The important thing is for him to be good to go for the regular season and for him to be in position to actually make it through the season.
