Lately, and especially recently, we have been hearing about staffords 1-23 record of winning teams. I first heard about it when someone on facebook posted this link
I decided to use the information in the article and break it down a little more. I wanted to see what his stats were if you took away his injured/rookie years. (which seems like a fair thing to do)
this is what I came up with: If you take away the injured/rookie games, you get 17 games. now he still won only one of them, but his stats say that you can not put it on him. 17 games is practically a season. in that season he threw for 5552 yards (!!) 30 touchdowns to 18 interceptions. Not a bad season especially considering your team year in year out leads he league in drops. and its a "season" against all winning teams! He completed 472/782 of his passes which comes to a respectable 60%.
now, thats alot of yards. so he moves the ball at will. but it takes a team effort to score. these numbers arent super, he can without a doubt improve, but i think it is worth mentioning that the past two seasons he has played well against winning teams.
Edit: some more numbers- he averaged 326.58 yards so lets call it 327per game. He averaged 2 TDs per game by the skin of his teeth (1.7 technically) and obviously 1int per game. so, not great.. enough to win? id say so.
