Lions offensive line drive chart vs. Browns

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

A drive log of how the Detroit Lions used their offensive line in their preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Detroit Lions continued to mix up offensive linemen in their game against the Cleveland Browns. Here's the breakdown:

Lewis Keyton Warford Waddle 7 plays, 28 yards, downs 0 rushes 1

*Hilliard lined up at LT

One major difference in this game was the use of Jake Scott. Scott was only used on the left side last week, but this game he got the starting nod at right guard. Larry Warford, again, got a lot of snaps at RG as the game went on. But Scott's emergence as the starter makes me think Warford may not reach the starting lineup as early as I previously suggested. Dylan Gandy may not even be part of the equation at RG at this point.

This week, Jason Fox got the majority of the snaps at right tackle, strengthening his case for the starting job. Corey Hilliard also got some time with the No. 1 offense, and additionally had a few snaps at left tackle with the second team, but his grasp on the starting job seems to be slipping away.

Overall, I have nothing positive to say about the actual play of the linemen, other than pass protection wasn't a big problem. Run blocking was atrocious across the board, and that is easy to see looking at this chart. As for deeper analysis, I will bite my tongue until I gain the courage (stupidity?) to re-watch the game.
