Based on practice on Monday, it seems like the Detroit Lions are going to be without quite a few starters when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Thursday. Starters usually don't play much at all in the final preseason game anyway, but just look at the list of the 10 players who were out for the Lions on Monday:
RB Montell Owens
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Ryan Broyles
TE Michael Williams
C Leroy Harris
DE Ziggy Ansah
DT Ndamukong Suh
S Louis Delmas
S John Wendling
P Sam Martin
The Lions did get defensive end Jason Jones and tight end Joseph Fauria back at practice, according to Chris McCosky. Also, Kyle Meinke reports that defensive tackle Nick Fairley and safety Glover Quin practiced as well, although they didn't take part in the team drills.
Also per Meinke, Ansah was not seen at practice on Monday. Jim Schwartz again declined to comment on if Ansah has a concussion, but it sure doesn't seem like he's healthy right now. Hopefully whatever is wrong is cleared up by the time the regular season opens on Sept. 8.
