Lions training camp: Kris Durham stands out on Saturday

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Kris Durham had another excellent practice as Detroit Lions training camp continued on Saturday.

Several wide receivers are competing for a spot on the Detroit Lions' 53-man roster. We know that Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson and Ryan Broyles will make the team, but it's anyone's guess at this point as to who else will be on the roster at wide receiver. Mike Thomas, Corey Fuller, Micheal Spurlock and Patrick Edwards are just some of the players in the mix at the position.

Also in the mix at wide receiver is Kris Durham. He joined the Lions as a member of the practice squad at the beginning of last season, and he ended up spending four games on the 53-man roster. A former teammate of Matthew Stafford at Georgia, Durham finished 2012 with 8 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown.

So far during training camp, one single wide receiver hasn't been able to jump ahead of everybody else in the battle for the fourth spot at the position. However, Durham seems to be stringing together some solid practices, and he once again stood out for his play on Saturday. Case in point:

Durham has good size (he's 6-6), and he seems to be putting it to good use in training camp. Translating that to the preseason will be important when it comes to making a case to be on the 53-man roster, but Durham seems to be doing a good job so far of showing why he deserves consideration for the fourth spot on the depth chart at wide receiver.
