No, I'm not referring to a David Bowie song. I'm alluding to a stat looking at QB efficiency under pressure.
Stafford ranked 6th while under pressure (using DVOA by Football Outsiders). While he only ranked average (18th) while not under pressure, he was notably not as effected under pressure.
This is very interesting to me given the ol' eye test of mine would not have come to the same conclusion.
Stafford will likely be under pressure in 2013 more than the 15% he was last year, but perhaps we should be more hopeful that he can overcome some of that pressure.
It appears most of Stafford's performance issues are mental and about getting in a rhythm. I don't really see Stafford being a top 5 QB in efficiency, but I do see him improving his 15 QBR rank from last year because I think another year in the league + a better run game will help him.
What do you think? Does the stat ring true or leave a lot to be desired?
