Ndamukong Suh's appeal now scheduled for Sept. 24

Ndamukong Suh's appeal has been pushed back again.

At this time a week ago, news of Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh's $100,000 fine was just announced. The fine didn't come as a huge surprise, although the amount certainly raised a few eyebrows. Suh managed to avoid a suspension after his low block against the Minnesota Vikings, but his checkbook took a hit as a result.

Suh didn't take long to decide to appeal his $100,000 fine, and he was originally scheduled to have his hearing last Friday. It was rescheduled, though, and it was reported that the hearing was moved to Tuesday. Now, however, it's been pushed back until next Tuesday (Sept. 24), according to Mike Garafolo.

The extra time gives Suh's representatives a chance to build a stronger case for why the fine should be lowered. They can point to his recent history of fewer personal fouls as evidence that he has changed ever since he was suspended for his Thanksgiving stomp a couple years ago. They can also point to the fact that things that happened early in his career were the main reason behind why his fine was so big.

In general, it's going to be important for Suh to stay out of this kind of trouble on the field going forward, as a suspension is likely to follow his next misstep. This is especially important on Sunday when the Lions take on the Washington Redskins considering his appeal will be heard a couple days later. He can kiss that $100,000 goodbye if he makes any mistakes in Washington, so he will need to repeat last week's performance, where he made a big impact on the game through strictly clean plays.
