Ziggy Ansah injury: Lions DE misses practice again

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions were once again without defensive end Ziggy Ansah on Tuesday.

The Detroit Lions returned to the practice field on Tuesday morning to start preparing for Sunday's season-opener against the Minnesota Vikings. The good news is that nearly all of the players who were out last week returned to practice on Tuesday. The likes of Calvin Johnson, Ndamukong Suh and even Louis Delmas practiced.

The bad news is that defensive end Ziggy Ansah did not take part in Tuesday's practice. On the bright side, he was actually on the field and helping with some drills rather than being completely absent, but he didn't actually practice. That's not a good sign considering the thinking has been that he's recovering from a concussion. I suppose we'll find out what exactly is wrong on Wednesday when the first injury report of the week is released.

The only other player out on Tuesday was running back Montell Owens. This is no surprise, of course, because Owens is set to be placed on injured reserve with the designation to return. It's unclear who the Lions will replace him with on the roster at this time, but Owens is scheduled to miss the first part of the season.

Again, the first injury report of the week will be out on Wednesday, so for specifics on injuries, we will have to wait until then.
