I know a big portion of fans, including Sean, are going to be very disappointed that Whisenhunt decided not to come to the Lions to be the HC. He is a strong coaching candidate with many of the qualities we all wanted for a head coach of the team.
Now whether the Titans offered more money, more power, some other incentives, or some combo of those factors, the Titans snaked him out from underneath the organization. It doesn't really sound like the Lions did something boneheaded to lose him, ok? This was ALWAYS a possibility. Whisenhunt has free will, like everyone else.
At the current moment, Adam Schefter is reporting the Lions have been in talks with Jim Caldwell all day. He is also a strong head coach candidate for this organization. We heard about him having a very strong interview with the team and charting out all of Matthew Stafford's throws from this season (which is a pretty tedious thing to do). I definitely think he could be a good HC here.
Whisenhunt is not the end-all, be-all of coaching. He has his strengths and his flaws. Things hopefully will work out in our favor in the short & long term as Lions fans. And i'm sure until then, many of us will decide to curse Whisenhunt.
