Okay so everyone is talking about the LBs in the upcoming draft, and for good reason: our pass rush sucks despite a great line. The two big names being tossed around the most are Khalil Mack and Anthony Barr, both are considered elite players and we'd be lucky to have them. However, I feel there are other good LBs in the draft...one I have my eyes on is Ryan Shazier. This guy is underrated compared to the others...he is an extremely intriguing talent in my opinion. There isn't as much tape on him as the bigger names, but what tape there is is impressive. He has good awareness/vision, elite closing speed, hits like a truck. On a lot of plays that I saw, the guy is coming out of nowhere (sometimes from off-screen) apparently and making big plays.
If we choose to go OLB I think we should consider trading down picks and grabbing Shazier. If we can get a 3rd and 4th out of it, I think it'd be very useful for us, while still getting significant OLB help. What are your thoughts on it? Any other LBs you think we should target in other rounds?
