Next up in the 2013 POD Awards is the category for the Detroit Lions' Most Valuable Backup. Here are the nominees:

RB Joique Bell

With the addition of Reggie Bush, Bell started only four games for the Lions in 2013. Even so, he rushed for 650 yards and 8 touchdowns on 166 carries, and he also caught 53 passes for 547 yards.

TE Joseph Fauria

Fauria, who joined the Lions last year as an undrafted free agent, started all of two games, and he was really only used in red-zone situations for most of the season. Despite this, he caught 18 passes for 207 yards and an astounding 7 touchdowns.

OT LaAdrian Waddle

As an undrafted free agent, Waddle entered the 2013 season third on the depth chart at right tackle. Because of injuries, Waddle was forced into action as a starter. He played so well that he ended up starting eight games for the Lions in 2013, and he actually ended up receiving a +7.9 grade on Pro Football Focus for his play.

DT C.J. Mosley

Mosley got one start in 2013, and he finished the year with 15 tackles and 1 forced fumble. On PFF, Ndamukong Suh was the only Lions player who finished with a better grade for run defense than Mosley.

S Don Carey

Carey got a lot of playing time on special teams, and he stepped in as a starter for three games at nickelback when injuries piled up. He finished with 30 tackles, 2 pass defenses and 1 forced fumble, and he played well enough that the Lions gave him another contract extension.
