Lions notes: Greg Roman, Jim Caldwell, more

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Lions notes looks at Greg Roman, Jim Caldwell and much more.

  • As far as we know, the Detroit Lions haven't expressed interest in San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman, but he apparently is interested in them.
  • After firing head coach Mike Munchak over the weekend, the Tennessee Titans are reportedly planning to interview Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell. Caldwell interviewed with the Lions last Friday and the Washington Redskins last Sunday.

  • Why did Lovie Smith end up taking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coaching job before even interviewing with the Lions? This may have had something to do with it: I can't imagine Martin Mayhew will be giving up that kind of control to the Lions' new head coach.

  • Stephen Tulloch is spending part of his offseason in the classroom.

  • Clemson wide receivers Sammy Watkins and Martavis Bryant have both declared for the 2014 NFL Draft. Watkins will likely be in the mix to be the Lions' first-round pick if he is actually still available when they go on the clock.
