Blessings as we go forward . . .

O.k. - so the Pack nailed down the #2 seed. They deserved it.

The Lions didn't play well against them in this last game. I kind of expected that. On the road, on grass, against a lethal QB, in a critical game, the Lions just didn't put anything together.

However, my mind is turning now to the current playoff situation.

As hot as Dallas is, I think the Lions match up well with them. Our defense is excellent on artificial turf, and excellent against the run. The Cowboys have won lately by establishing the run game and then lighting up opposing D's with some big plays in the passing game. Well, Detroit's D is hard to do that against on artificial turf. Dallas does not have the breadth of receiver talent that the Cards, Patriots, and Packers have. Your talking about a more concentrated group of playmakers that our secondary will have to worry about if we can shut down DeMarco Murray.

Also, Stafford has lit up Dallas with his passing the last two times the Lions have played them. It is also exactly one place where Stafford has played extremely well on the road - a phenomenal win in 2011.

Our last three road losses this season - two were on real grass, and two were against very accurate and lethal QB's. Perhaps against a QB like Romo, who is not of the caliber of Brady and Rodgers, we match up better on a surface where we can play fast.

If we should somehow come away with a win in Dallas. Then we travel to Seattle. Again, I think the Lions match up well against the Seahawks. The game would again be on artificial turf, against a lesser QB than the those who have beaten the Lions lately, against an offense that lives by the run game. Again, it is hard to run on Detroit's D on artificial turf. If you can turn Seattle into a one dimensional team that needs to make plays in the passing game ?? If we can stop the run and spy Wilson so as to stop him on escape plays ? Again, the Seahawks have nowhere near the broad caliber of receiver talent that the Cards, Patriots, and Packers beat the Lions with.

If we somehow win on the road in Dallas and then Seattle, then we most likely would travel again to Green Bay - and this match up I do not like at all - against an MVP QB, on the road, on real grass, in the cold, against a bevy of awesome receivers that are hard to match up with . . . and in a place where they historically have trouble playing well.

Even still, if a rematch like that were to materialize in a late playoff run, there again, I like the " recent loser " in a rematch, as oftentimes beating the same team twice so soon after playing them is hard.

Hey - overall - I am happy with our season. Were in !!!

I like our possible matchup(s).

Let's face it. We just were not good enough this year to earn a first round bye. So, if we have to go on the road - I like what I'm looking at.
