Word out of the Jets camp is they are looking to unload the speedy receiver after only two seasons and search for help in free agency. The former 2nd round pick out of Ga Tech impressed scouts at the combine when he ran a 4.36 40. His measurable are there, 6'4" 215 lbs but he was raw then and by all accounts is still pretty raw. His biggest knock is poor route running and he is not a legit #1 WR in the NFL. He has only amassed 594 yards and 4 TD over 2 years.
So why does this make sense for the Lions? To start with he is only 22 years old and has a lot of football ahead of him. He also has played in a run dominant offense with horrible quarterbacks. He would also not be a #1 WR with the lions and would be used to stretch the field, which he can actually do pretty well due to his straight line speed. A big factor in this would be learning from the best in the game in fellow Yellow Jacket Calvin Johnson. That connection can help put him over the top and create a WR combination similar to Chicago's.
So what would the Lions have to give up to get him? I would suggest Mikel Leshoure. This would benefit both teams and give the Jet's the short yardage bruiser they have lacked for the past few years. Plus it allows us to go a different direction in the draft and work on the defensive side of the ball.
