So its draft day, we are all eagerly watching what the Lions will do with the #10 pick. As the Commish is reading out the teams and players they selected before us, we start to get our hopes up for different guys. Some are stuck on the idea of WR, others secondary, maybe linebacker.
I currently have the top 9 as follows:
Texans - Clowney
Rams - Watkins
Jaguars - Bridgewater
Browns - Manziel
Falcons - Matthews
Bucs - Mack
Vikings - Bortles
Bills - Ebrom
Now it's the Lions pick, we have a bunch of talented players to pick out of but does one stand out more than another?
Players like HHCD, Pryor, Gilbert, Dennard, Barr, Evans, Ealy, Mosley and Lee are some of the favorites.
Phone rings and its the Giants, they are in desperate need of an OT, and Taylor Lewan is sitting there. Are you comfortable moving back the two spots and getting less than the trade chart says for the following trade.
Detroit gives up their #10 overall (1st round) to New York Giants for their #12 overall (1st round) and 4th round pick.
I think it makes a lot of sense for both teams.
For the Giants, unless they value Zack Martin in the same class as Lewan, they want to get one of the big 3 OT's available, giving up a 4th round to make that happen seems like a decent gamble.
For the Lions, moving back 2 spots and adding another 4th rounder, to replace the lost 5th from the Mike Thomas trade works. So many different guys who would fit the Lions needs at #12 as there is at #10.
Thoughts on the idea?
