More Draft Day Scenarios

I was commenting in another thread, and it got me thinking about team needs. I think we need a pass rusher, whether at DE or OLB. Obviously, the best case scenario for us in this regard, is if Mack or Barr fall to us at #10. But even if that happens, there will likely be someone better on the board at WR or FS. In a perfect world, Clowney would fall to us, be we all know that Clowney is a Top 5 pick. No way in hell he falls below that.

So here’s the question…

What would you be willing to give up to trade up into, say, the #5 spot if Clowney were still on the board?

For me, I think we could give Oakland (they own that #5 pick) our #10 pick and our 2nd rounder. Pretty sure they wouldn't take that trade though, so what players could we offer the Raiders to sweeten our offer? Looking at Oakland's team needs, it looks like they need a QB, DE, CB, and OG.

I doubt very much if the Clowney's on the board, that they'd be willing to trade out of it, and all we could really offer would be Rob Sims or Chris Houston.

Even if we offered Sims, Houston, the #10 and the 2nd rounder, I still don't think Oakland would take that trade (nor do I think it would be worthwhile for us to make it).

There's also future picks we could trade. For a talent like Clowney, that might be a reasonable option.

So, at most, I would offer the #10, our 3rd rounder, the 2015 first rounder, and Rob Sims if necessary. That leaves us the 2nd rounder to take a WR.

So would you 1) accept that trade if you were the Raiders, and 2) would you be ok offering that trade if you were the Lions?

The safest bet is to sit tight at #10, but for the sake of it, let's play with this idea of trading up for Clowney.

Does anyone think another Top 5 team might be willing to trade with us for less?
