I just ran two mock drafts, and in one I had us trade down because our top 5 were all gone. In the second, Robinson, Mack and Watkins were all on the board.
Obviously, these mocks don't mean a thing, but I think they provide us with the kind of volatile nature the draft can possess. Every team ahead of us has at least 2 positions of need that have to be filled now.
If there's a run on QBs or OTs, or both, then there's a legitimate shot that the Lions will have at least one of those three names available at 10. We should all be hoping names like Lewan or Carr are gone by 10, that would be amazing, and not entirely crazy.
Secondly, we don't even necessarily have to take Watkins or Mack if they're available. We could make a killing trading down to take a S, WR, OLB or OG later in the first, while picking up a 2nd or 3rd or both.
At the same time, we may be stuck taking a S or OLB at 10...
Just the nature of the NFL Draft.
