I am anxiously awaiting the upcoming draft and I do think Stafford is QB 1. However, next in line at the position is something that really scares me. Two guys that I feel could potentially be around by the 4th round are AJ McCarron and Aaron Murray. There are a lot of similarities between the two. Both are SEC QBs, over 3 years starting experience, and both do all the little things well. McCarron does have a lot more of the hardware but is he a product of Saban's system or is it his skill? Both definitely have upside and either would look good in the Honolulu Blue. The question is if both are available who do you take and why?
McCarron
This guy has the size you are looking for. He isn't afraid to step in the pocket and usually goes for the smart pass. He has three national championships and holds the passing yards and touchdown records at Bama. Plus Katherine Webb would be nice to look at when the Lion's inevitably begin losing. Some knocks are he doesn't "zing" the ball like our boy Matt and can sometimes float the ball.
Murray
He has had concerns regarding the knee injury but had a strong pro day recently. He is a four year starter. He puts a lot of velocity on his passes and has a good trajectory. Another plus for this guy is he has worked from a pro style system. He is a smaller guy standing in at 6'1". Like mentioned before he has had a recent torn ACL. He has the bigger arm and is a bulldog just like Matthew.
What do you you guys think, if both are available in round 4 who would you take and why. Or is there another QB more worthy of our selection in that position?
