The moving of Michael Williams to TE immediately makes me think of the Tackle from the Houston Texans Duane Brown who also played Tight End up until his sophmore season at Virginia Tech. Williams is a product of Alabama where they have had their share of high round selected from their teams to name a few since 2009 (Andre Smith 1st rd in 2009, Mike Johnson 3rd rd in 2010, James Carpenter 1st rd in 2011, D.j. Fluker 1st rd 2013, and Cyrus Kouandjio this year in the 2nd rd.) so maybe Williams best bet at that time was to stay at TE.
Wishful thinking Williams does have the size to play Tackle at 6'5" and currently 270 but he does have what they consider short arms for the tackle position only 32" per nationalfootballpost.com
A "Below Average" Arm Length (32 inches - 32 7/8 inches) compares to:
Robert Gallery: Raiders, 2004 (32 ¼ inches)
Chris Williams: Bears, 2008 (32 ¾ inches)
the main thing that made me think of Duane Brown is the similarity in size coming out of school and what he blossomed into. Out of HS as a TE Brown was listed at 6'4 250lbs and he his now up to 320lbs so the frame is there for Williams if he commits with his measurables out of HS being 6'5" 240lbs and is currently at 270. A few things i i like about this position change are This allows us to continue to develop one of our picks even if he only ends up on practice squad, 2. If he makes the 53 man roster we now have a player that has receiving experience and can be used in some lineman as eligible receiver packages(crazy possibilities), 3. if he is anywhere near Brown who is a 2 time pro bowler then i would be happy plus there isn't much competition for that fourth spot some guy name Shugarts and then Lochness Lucas lol (that dudes a monster in size).
with that said i will make a 53 man roster prediction since im bored because i know it will be way off but, this is who i would field for my squad
