In Xanders we trust.....

I'm only going to say that after the draft and post-draft peformance that Xanders displayed last year, i'm trusting in this pick. Despite the fact that this makes so little sense on so many levels. We paid Grew big money. Everyone thinks Fauria is some kind of TD machine. We have essentially given our supposedly stellar DT combo 1 year to get it done with Donald there for the taking..............IT MAKES ZERO SENSE.

I take solace in two things. One: Xanders had to have signed off on this pick, there is no way his input wasn't paramount after what he brought to this team last year. Two (and the obvious reason): Lombardi loves Ebron. Has to think that this kid has the chance to be a special at tight end, in an era where TE's are becoming more and more important to the gameplan.

After finding out that trading up for Watkins was gonna take next years first round pick, and having no way to jump in front of Tampa to get Evans, i don't see why this is such a bad thing. I'm gonna resist the temptation to get into numbers (weight/height/catches/targets) and just go on whats visible. Ebron is not a terribly different player than Evans. I've heard the concerns about his hands, and respect that concern, but i think its virtually impossible to have worse hands then Pettigrew. Run those two out there in a two TE set and we're golden.

I guess it comes down to this: 2nd and goal at the 7......defense facing CJ, Tate, Pettigrew/Fauria, Ebron, and Bush/Bell out of the backfield...........good luck. Mix and match as you please, but we have the firepower to score every single time we get in the redzone........and this is before we hit the 2nd round. I'm ok with the pick, not thrilled, but this isn't the worst pick we could've made.....nobody can argue what Lombardi did with Graham, a guy who essentially played one year of high level football before becoming the best TE in the game.
