Lions sign draft pick Kyle Van Noy

The Detroit Lions have inked second-round pick Kyle Van Noy to a four-year deal.

Seven down, one to go.

The Detroit Lions signed second-round pick Kyle Van Noy on Wednesday, leaving first-rounder Eric Ebron as their only unsigned draft pick for 2014. Van Noy's deal is for four years, and he tweeted the following picture from his contract signing:

According to Spotrac, Van Noy's deal is expected to be worth slightly more than $5 million. His cap hit for 2014 should be around $914,578, meaning the Lions lost around $344,578 in cap space with him signing (a cap hit of $570,000 was bumped out of the top 51 with this move). The Lions came into the day with $1,089,774 in cap space, so they are now below the $1 million mark.

To sign Ebron, who is expected to have a cap hit of $2.2 million for 2014, the Lions will likely have to restructure someone's contract. Another option is to sign Ndamukong Suh to a long-term deal to free up enough room to officially sign Ebron, but it's unclear if an extension with Suh is even close to being completed at this point.
