The View of Lions-Jags from Section 329

Lots to talk about in last night's game, so I will get right to it. First, my getting to the game and my seat. As usual, we get there way early, and I always buy a pop as I arrive. So I order 2 pops and a popcorn. I was the lady's first customer, and she was obviously very new, and she could not ring up the order. And the person teaching her could not either, so I leaned over and showed them what buttons to push. Pathetic, but I was nice and very patient. The bill was $23.50, and I gave her $25. She just looked at the money for about 30 seconds, and then asked what she should do with it. Someone had to come over and explain to het that she had to ring it up and give me my change. She clearly did not know how much I was supposed to get back, no idea. I was very nice, but it was hard, as this all took about 10 minutes while I was the only one in line. Then, I walk over the isle to go to my seat, carrying pops and my program, both hands full, and an usher asks me to see my ticket. I told him that I know my seat, I've been in the same one for years. He gets in my face and says show me your ticket. I was still being polite, but I told him if you want to see it, follow me up to my seat and I will put my stuff down and show it to you. He did follow me, I nicely showed him my ticket, and he says next time do it faster. Now I'm pissed, and I told him just next time remember me, I'm the first one here, same seat for years, should be able to handle that. He was incredibly belligerent, and I had to be his first patron, I was the only one in the section. Really amazing how poorly they got me from the door to the seat.

Oh yeah, there was a game too. Very dull game. But a lot of really nice stuff in it, and a few bad things. First, the bad stuff. Penalties, way too many called. Every kick, nearly every play. And none were really obvious from my point of view. Ruined the game, has to stop. Fumbles, but all of them were from guys who aren't going to be playing, so no big deal. And I am sure the Stafford haters are out in number today, but let me talk about that first. He made an awful throw to Pettigrew on the first possession. His worst play all season so far. But his pick, I'm sure looked bad on TV, but from my view it looked like a big play was about to happen. He was watching the coverage, and Calvin beat it and looked wide open. But a DE had dropped off the line and Stafford, and I, never saw him. It wasn't a careless play or a bad throw, he got fooled by a trick defense. Happens to everyone. When he threw that, he thought it was a 40-50 yd gain, and so did I. Branch just made a sensational play. Now the good from Matthew. The Lions cannot be defensed by a single safety. As soon as a team comes out in that formation, I can tell you where the ball is going. And the new receivers are wide open, beating single man coverage. It is easy for us, and we will slaughter a couple teams this year if they insist on playing it. Adding Ebron and Tate has made Calvin WAY more dangerous. The Lions are hiding a lot of their offense and defense, they played a very vanilla scheme last night. For anyone out saying I told you so, same old Lions, they aren't seeing the whole picture. This is just basic football right now. No picks, no fancy blitzes, a few blitzes, but not the trickier stuff, no misdirection, jus practicing basic plays. This team is good. Now for the position groups.

The def line played well last night. George Johnson not only will make the team, he will play a lot. He is a good player. Taylor, Ziggy, and the rest played well. Fairley put out a nice effort on any play I watched him, he got doubled a lot. And I'm sure I will be hearing about the Suh hit. Just smoked Henne, sent him flying. Great to watch. If you think back, Suh smokes a QB unnecessarily every preseason. Just puts it on tape so Jay Cutler and the rest can see he is still nuts. He intimidates, and it works. It's why we end him to resign, he is a beast and scares people in a game of intimidation. Kind of like Mike Tyson when he was young, he scares really tough people. He doesn't seem to mind the fines, so let him. The yards did not matter, the whole league will see this play.

LBs. Whitehead started the game, and made great open field tackles on Marqise Lee on each of the first 2 plays. He has been the best defender on the field every time it have seen the Lions this year, and should start. He is better right now than Van Noy, and Palmer is nowhere near the player. Schwartz just didn't replace veterans ever, so he hasn't played much. We are solid at LB, best group in the division by far.

DB, Starters played well. Every big play Jax had was vs a very vanilla zone that I bet we are almost never in. Especially the 3rd and long plays. They are just hiding their intentions. Greenwood looked good, then got beat badly for aTD. Green hardly played, and I think he will be a first round cut. Nevis Lawson did not play very well. Qaddis started, and looked fine to me. I think he makes the team. Couplin is the biggest hitter we have, and should be kept at all costs. Might not be ready, but he will get poached if we try to PS him. He is a keeper.

OL dint watch linemen that closely, will on my replay. But Mike Williams seemed to be given a shot, and could make the team. Him or Lucas, and Lucas didn't play well vs Oakland. Close call.

WR and TEs, all looked good. Durham and Ogletree have done nothing, I wouldn't keep either one. they don't scare anyone at all. And Fuller isn't ready. Everyone wonders do we keep 5 or 6, but I think that we only have 4. I would still keep Peacock, but that isn't happening.

QB, Stafford is fine. Orlovsky isn't. He threw to the shortest man in the pattern every play but 2. Those 2 were both very inaccurate, but Broyles caught one of them. Other was way out of bounds to Edwards, who is not going to make it either.

RBs, LeShoure was awful. Winn was awful. Owens didn't play. Winn is going to the PS, either Owens or LeShoure gets kept. Collins is making the team.

we are gonna smoke the Giants on Mon Night football. 45 -10.
