With the 20th pick in the Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the New York Jets select offensive tackle Jack Conklin. Darius.Slayer23 is the acting general manager for the Jets. Below is the rationale for the pick.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: This pick was made before the Jets traded for Ryan Clady]
With the retirement of D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the tackle situation becomes an even more dire need. The projected starters with Ferguson was below expectations, and with his departure it becomes worse. The current tackles that would be projected starters are Breno Giacomini, who was ranked the ninth-worst tackle in football last season, according to Pro Football Focus. The other starter, Brent Qvale, has only started one game in his career. Jack Conklin was the best offensive tackle on the board and lines up with best player available. There were other potential players, such as William Jackson III, Eli Apple, and a few other secondary prospects on the board, but the potential of Jack Conklin, along with the need of offensive tackle trumps all here.
