With the 27th pick in the Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers select defensive tackle Chris Jones. TuffLynx is the acting general manager for the Packers. Below is the rationale for the pick.
I had Reggie Ragland, Andrew Billings, and Jarran Reed all ranked higher, but none of them made it to pick No. 27. The Packers are shorthanded on the defensive line due to the loss of B.J. Raji for, at least, a year. Many Packers faithful believe that Raji is unlikely to ever play football again. Retaining Letroy Guion gives the Pack an option to move to nose tackle, but that will leave them shorthanded at the defensive end spot opposite Mike Daniels.
Chris Jones is a player that demonstrates the ability to be a solid run stuffer that can also push the pocket some in pass rush. He will be a fine fit to fill the hole in the Packers defensive line corps. I also feel that Jones could develop into a real impact player in the NFL. I feel that this combination of good fit and strong potential makes him the best remaining selection for the Pack.
