The Case for Greg Hardy

I know this is going to be a controversial topic, but an interesting one nonetheless. Would anyone be interested in having Greg Hardy join the Lions? I have a couple reasons why it might work.

1. Cost

With his checkered past, he should come cheap. If we could get him cheap on a one year deal we could get a monster year and another year to draft a DE to fill a roster spot. He would also get a year to rebuild his productivity and appeal to the rest of the NFL.

2. Detroit, Not Dallas.

Dallas is not Detroit in many ways. The city itself is not exactly the nightlife hotbed that Dallas is. I would think the potential for trouble is much higher in Dallas than in Detroit. Also Detroit is not the media circus of Dallas. Between the clown Jerry Jones and the rest of the circus, he could blend in a little better in Detroit. In Dallas, the Cowboys are a constant topic with fierce scrutiny and analysis of every move made by a Cowboy's player.

3. Martha Firestone Ford

I have a feeling that anyone who works for that woman would be on the straight and narrow. I feel like she would burn a hole in anyone's sole with her eyes if they besmirch the reputation of the Detroit Lions. Between her and her three daughters, I don't think anyone would dare harm a women on their watch.

4. Ezekiel Ansah

I would have to imagine the prospect of playing on the other end of a defensive line with Ezekiel Ansah would be intriguing. Having Greg Hardy and Ezekiel Ansah would force teams to choose which one to double team. Either one could have a monster year and we could benefit.

5. Production

If you project his sack total from 2015 to a full 16 game season, he would have had 8 sacks. If you throw out his 1 game season in 2014, he averages 8 sacks. So, some see last year as a down year in production, but it was really an average year for Greg Hardy. Even if he has an average year he would almost double the sack production of Jason Jones.

So is he worth it?
