Game #14 - Detroit Lions (2-11-0) at Green Bay Packers (5-8-0) - Open Thread

AT
The final games of the 2006 season are here for the Detroit Lions, and now this has gotten to the point where losing only means a higher draft pick. With most of the offensive line injured and various players from other positions on the offense and defense out, it'll just be a matter of surviving for Detroit.

Green Bay has had a less than successful season as well, but at least they're not at the complete bottom of the league. The Packers are going to be playing hard at home for the second to last time today, meaning that this may be one of the last chances to get a look at Brett Favre. You can imagine they will be fighting to get him a win.

On paper, Detroit really doesn't look to have any relative chance here. However, it always seems that in these situations they find a way to come out on top. Since the Lions are 2-11, I really don't care if they win or not. A win is a win, but at the same time, a loss helps to get the #1 draft pick, which we have never seen before in this Matt Millen era of mediocrity. Either way, hopefully it isn't a total embarrassment.

Ugly first half
There's been almost no offense and the defense has been shaky.  If the Lions don't step it up soon, this one will get away, although I'm not sure Green Bay is real deserving to win.

That was fun
2-12, well on our way to worst in the league.  I can't take watching these games anymore.

ughh
granted, i was semi rooting for brett favre to throw a couple of td passes for fantasy purposes, which h emiserably failed to do, instead handing off to Morency for the scores, but seriously, was that the ugliest display of football you have ever seen or what?? I'm not sure the Lions have played a worse game this whole year, and when you're talking about a 12 losses and counting team that's saying something.

The packers radio broadcast team over here kept bringing up how clueless the Lions looked, with one crack about how Detroit led the league in wasted timeouts, another about how timeouts taken due to confusion was a hallmark of a Mike Martz coached squad, and at least one more crack in that vein, and that was just in the second half (i watched the first half on tv), and you know something, I couldn't even get mad at them, because they're right.

Worst game of the year?
I know there's been some bad ones, but is this the worst game of the year?  I mean, 142 yards of total offense and just nothing going on at all offensively.  I almost, almost fell asleep watching the game because absolutely NOTHING was happening.  Just downright awful to watch.
