The Free Press is now reporting that the Daniel Bullocks deal became official Friday night. The deal is four-years, as earlier reported, and worth $3.71 million with $2.05 million of that guaranteed. With this signing becoming official, it leaves just first-round pick Ernie Sims as the only unsigned rookie.
Although Bullocks missed the first two practices of training camp Friday, he attended meetings Friday night and will be on the field this morning.
"We're thrilled that the contract is done and Daniel is in camp and ready to contribute to the Lions this year," Luchs said.
Luchs said late Thursday night Bullocks had agreed to a four-year contract and Bullocks was expected to sign Friday morning.
The deal was supposed to be worth $3.71 million with $2.05 million guaranteed. Luchs praised the Lions for committing the same total package to Bullocks that Philadelphia gave the player drafted in front of him, offensive lineman Winston Justice.
But Bullocks didn't sign Friday morning and missed both practices. What happened?
Luchs would only say this Friday night: "What happened was just contractual language issues than have since been rectified."
Six down, one to go. The Lions and Sims' agent, Todd France, are still negotiating. A sporadic amount of first-rounders were signed yesterday, but many still remain unsigned. Hopefully Ernie Sims can be taken out of the unsigned category soon.
