Update [2007-12-9 16:15:32 by Sean Yuille]: It wasn't the blowout we all expected, but Detroit broke our hearts anyways. They choked away a win that would've turned the season back around. Hanson missed a field goal that would've put Detroit ahead even after a late Dallas TD, and then Paris Lenon just had to fall on a fumble on the Cowboys' last drive. Instead, he tried to pick it up and hit it forward, allowing Dallas to recover. Full recap tomorrow. Until then, the season is officially over now. Typical Lions.

Looks like the bad blood is gone

Rogers limps off
Can't stop the run, I don't even want to see what the pass will do.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:08 PM EST reply actions

Romo lofts a pass
Incomplete, Nick Folk in for a long field goal attempt

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:11 PM EST reply actions

No good!
Great stop by the defense and no points are scored.  Need the offense to score here.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:12 PM EST reply actions

Duckett!!!!!!!!!!!
T.J. Duckett runs into the endzone from 30+ yards out.  There's the running game we've been missing.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:17 PM EST reply actions

Wow, 63 yards rushing on that drive alone
I think that's more than we've had in the last 4 games

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:20 PM EST reply actions

Gerald Alexander sacks Romo!
The safety blitz pays off, 4th and long, Cowboys have to punt.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:24 PM EST reply actions

Walters appears to be hurt
Detroit will take over at their own 38.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:25 PM EST reply actions

What a play by Furrey
Made a great catch coming back for the ball and gets off the ground to run for a 1st down.  Also a roughing the passer penalty to add 15 on to the play.  Lions now up to the Cowboys 13.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:34 PM EST reply actions

Pass to McHugh
He made the catch this time for a 1st down.  Ball inside the 2.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:36 PM EST reply actions

Play-action thrown a little to high
McHugh can't make the catch.  It'll be third and goal.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:37 PM EST reply actions

Flag on the play for illegal formation
It'll be 4th down.  Can't believe they couldn't score from 2 yards away from the goalline.  Would've liked to see Duckett get a handoff.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:38 PM EST reply actions

Hanson kicks a 19-yarder
10-0 Lions with 8 seconds left in the quarter

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:38 PM EST reply actions

Hanson forces Austin out of bounds
Great return though.  This kick coverage always gives up a big one.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:41 PM EST reply actions

Barber caught the ball
Had it knocked loose and now it is just a scrum for the ball.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:45 PM EST reply actions

WTF
Detroit came away with the ball but they're giving it to Dallas.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:46 PM EST reply actions

A Dallas player fell on it initially
Detroit not getting those turnovers like they did at the start of the season.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:47 PM EST reply actions

Barber gets a touchdown
Got a toss and ran by everyone.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:48 PM EST reply actions

10-7 Lions
Better come back out with points.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 1:48 PM EST reply actions

TD Lions!
2nd effort by Jones and he fights into the endzone.  Detroit leads 20-7.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 2:17 PM EST reply actions

TD Cowboys
Horrible defense on that drive.  Detroit leads 20-14.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 2:27 PM EST reply actions

Detroit leads 20-14 at the half
Great half considering how I thought this game would be, but still some missed opportunities.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 2:32 PM EST reply actions

Incomplete on 3rd and short
Detroit has to punt.  Not the way Detroit wanted to start this half.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 2:49 PM EST reply actions

Bad punt
Detroit will start in Dallas territory

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:00 PM EST reply actions

3rd and goal from the 3
3rd quarter over with.  Great couple of hits by Blue.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:21 PM EST reply actions

Barber stopped short!
Alexander makes a huge play on Barber.  4th and goal from the 2.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:24 PM EST reply actions

Crap
Barber runs into the endzone for a TD.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:24 PM EST reply actions

Lead only 27-21
Need at least a field goal to make it two possessions now

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:25 PM EST reply actions

Check that
3rd and 14, C.J. gets a delay of game for spiking the ball.  Where was that when Barber did it at the end of the 1st half?

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:34 PM EST reply actions

4th down
Hanson in for a big field goal.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:34 PM EST reply actions

Wow
Hanson misses from 35 yards out.  Still only 6 points.  Up to the defense now.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:35 PM EST reply actions

Another 1st down
That missed field goal is looking bigger every play

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:40 PM EST reply actions

Witten gets it again
1st down Dallas, Rogers back into the game

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:42 PM EST reply actions

Crayton inside the 5
This game is about to become a joke.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:43 PM EST reply actions

Lions ball!
Witten fumbles at the goal line and Detroit recovers.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:48 PM EST reply actions

Holy cow
Witten tried to stretch the ball out, it was clearly out before his knee was down.  And Greg Blue recovers it.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:48 PM EST reply actions

Rod is fired up
Pretty clear what he is saying to the refs.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:49 PM EST reply actions

Broken play
Wow, can't have a worst place to make a mistake like that. Detroit back to their own 1 now.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:50 PM EST reply actions

Kitna hits McDonald
Huge, huge, huge

1st down Lions.  Not only does the drive stay alive, but now Detroit doesn't have to punt out of its own endzone.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:51 PM EST reply actions

It'll be 3rd and 8 or so
Dallas uses its last timeout with 2:26 to go.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:56 PM EST reply actions

Kitna hit as he tried to throw
4th down, clock stops, and now the Lions have to punt.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:57 PM EST reply actions

if we don't get this...
....do you try and kick a 54 yarder with Hanson, or punt?

by ahtrap on Dec 9, 2007 3:58 PM EST reply actions

Barber gains 6
Stays inbounds as we head to the 2 minute warning.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 3:59 PM EST reply actions

Guess who
Witten for a 4 yard gain out of bounds

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 4:02 PM EST reply actions

Incomplete
Intended for Owens, it'll be 3rd and 6

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 4:03 PM EST reply actions

Romo puts it on the turf
And Detroit nearly recovered.  So freaking close.  4th down, this is your ball game.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 4:04 PM EST reply actions

Lenon tried to pick it up on that fumble
All he had to do was fall on it and that was the game.  Now there's a 5-yard substitution penalty on Detroit.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 4:05 PM EST reply actions

Dallas up to the 20
28 seconds left.  Don't have a good feeling about this at all.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 4:06 PM EST reply actions

yeesh
this dial-up access is killing me....first, I miss a chance to say, "you're my boy Blue!" on the fumble, and then I can't explain the confusing comment about whether to kick a FG from our own 37 being due to misreading where the ball was....

now the only question is, can the defense hang on?

by ahtrap on Dec 9, 2007 4:10 PM EST reply actions

So close
All Hanson had to do was make that easy field goal.  And to Paris Lenon: fall on the f-ing ball.

God.

by Sean Yuille on Dec 9, 2007 4:10 PM EST reply actions

nope
typical...witten....typical lions, a chance to take down the #1 team in the NFC, and this week's, "how'd they do that?" is Jason Hanson missing a 30 yarder, of all things

by ahtrap on Dec 9, 2007 4:12 PM EST reply actions

Game over
No luck at all.  I've had it with this crap.

An absolute freaking joke.
