Shaun Rogers Won't Be Charged in Sexual Assault Case
Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers was accused of sexually assaulting a woman last month and has now found out that no charges will be filed.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy said today that the decision was made following an investigation conducted over several weeks by the Detroit Police Department and her office.
"We have taken the time to interview witnesses and review the evidence," Worthy said in a prepared statement. "In all cases we must look at the evidence in a fair and consistent manner. The standard is whether we can prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. After an extensive investigation we have determined there is insufficient evidence to file any charges against Mr. Shaun Rogers."
This is big news simply because Rogers is staying out of trouble. After a very positive offseason for Rogers, this appeared to be a setback at one point. Hopefully he can just focus on football now and get ready for training camp.
