Predicting the Lions' Final Roster
Detroit and every other NFL team has to trim its roster towards the end of the month before ultimately getting it down to 53 players on September 1st. The final roster will include players that were locks to be on the team and then probably a few surprises that usually happen. To get a general idea of who is staying and who is going, I went through and predicted the final roster. Thanks to Dawgs By Nature for giving me an idea of how to format this.

One of the positions I really thought about the most was tight end. I was unsure if I should add another player to the active roster since there currently are only 2. But with Casey FitzSimmons moving to fullback, he could always play TE if needed. Sean McHugh is in the same situation, he can switch between both positions.
Also, remember that Drew Stanton is on the injured reserve, and I believe wide receiver Marcus Robinson is as well. That's not how it's listed on the Lions' official website, but he was moved to the IR right around the start of training camp.
Take a look at my predictions and leave your thoughts about who will and who won't make the final roster.
Update [2007-8-14 18:58:30 by Sean Yuille]: I forgot to mention this originally, but the * next to some of the players' names on the "cut list" is to denote who I think will make the practice squad.

Practice Squad
As well, players like Donté Curry will be picked up elsewhere if they are cut.
Finally I disagree with your assessment for a number of players. Those that I expect will be cut, and who would replace them are as follows:
Blaine Saipaia <> Manuel Ramierez
Dee McCann <> Ramzee Robinson
Eddie Drummond <> Troy Walters
Rex Tucker <> Johnny Baldwin
And if one of KJ or Devale Ellis isn't healthy for the season opener - someone else gets luck and sticks for a bit. That said, I'm not sure that the Lions keep 6 WRs - Martz likes to keep only his top guys out there which would mean only the top 4 see the field and any others had better be excelling at something on special teams.

LB is Ernie Sims, not Ernie Smith
