As of next year's draft, the traditional logo that everyone's recognizes as the NFL shield will be getting a new look. Don't start worrying just yet though, as the changes aren't too drastic. That is a good thing because when I first heard that the shield was going to change, I started wondering just how much it would be different. Thankfully, as you can see below, the changes are minimal and aren't bad either.
The league is creating a leaner, meaner version of the iconic logo that will debut at the NFL draft in April, 2008. The revamped shield will be slightly taller and thinner, with a new football, fewer stars and darker colors, says Lisa Baird, the NFL's senior vice president of marketing. The redesign marks the first changes to the shield since 1980.

I really like the new look of the shield because it does stand out more in a crisp and powerful way. With less stars and a 3D football, it just gives it a more modernized look while keeping the tradition in it as well.
