Starting Lions strong safety Kenoy Kennedy was arrested early Friday morning in Inkster under the charges of drunk driving. Reports that Kennedy was arrested started to leak out mid-day, and were confirmed in the afternoon by the Lions organization.
Kenoy Kennedy is the starting strong safety, but has missed the last two games due to an injury. Per the latest injury report, Kennedy was scheduled to miss this weekend's game at Minnesota anyways due to his injury, so the arrest will not have any effect on that.
Kennedy has been in the league for seven years, and this is his first violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. With a first offense, more testing and a possible fine will likely be the only consequence outside of the legal system. A suspension is not something likely to happen.
Battling injuries, Kennedy may not be back for another week, so even without a suspension, Kenoy may have to wait a while to get back on the field.
