Kevin Jones to IR?

Tom Kowalski is reporting that the injury Kevin Jones suffered during the game against Minnesota on Sunday is serious enough to end his season.  Jones tried to dive into the endzone from the 1 yard line in the fourth quarter and had to be carted off the field.

Initially, the injury did look to be serious considering Jones was carted off the field, but uncertainty arose of what exactly happened.  Tom Kowalski stated that it is a lisfranc fracture, which would probably require surgery.

Two sources close to the situation have confirmed that Jones' injury is symptomatic of a lisfranc fracture, which would likely require surgery. Lisfranc fractures are devastating because the recovery time can be vastly different from case to case and can sometimes take a year or more to completely heal.

If Jones does in fact go to the injured reserve, he will join his backups, Brian Calhoun and Shawn Bryson.  That means that Aveion Cason and Arlen Harris would likely split time at running back.

Injuries have plagued the Lions all season and continue even into the final weeks.  Ross Verba also severely injured his groin during the Minnesota game, and his status is up in the air.  The Lions offensive line has been banged up quite a bit this season and that would just be another starter gone to the IR.
