Shaun Rogers hasn't played for the Lions in quite some time as was suspended for four games and then has missed the last two due to the fact that he's still recovering from knee surgery. As it turns out, he won't be playing at all for the rest of 2006.
The Pro Bowler was placed on injured reserve today as he just couldn't recover in a timely manner to make his return to the field this season. As stated above, Rogers had knee surgery that is preventing him from playing. The minor surgery to repair a bad knee was done while he was serving a suspension due to a violation of the steroids policy. Most thought he would recover in time to get back as soon as he was eligible to play, but that won't be happening.
Shutting Rogers down for the season will keep an already busted up defensive line hurting for four more weeks. Shaun Cody and James Hall are already on the IR because of their own injuries, and with Rogers joining them, it makes three of the four regular starters from the d-line done for the year.
