It has been a slow news day for the Lions, so I figure I'll get into some other things going on around the NFL.
- There was a day-long meeting today in Denver to discuss mainly the possibility to put a franchise or franchises in Los Angeles. Although that was the main topic on most of the owner's mind, there was some talk about Paul Paul Tagliabue's successor. The new target date to find someone to replace Tagliabue is now August 18th. This comes as a delay since Tagliabue moved the date back to officially retire so he could be apart of the hiring process. (CBS Sportsline)
- Ricky Manning Jr. was charged with assault today from an incident dating back to an altercation in a restaurant. Windy City Gridiron makes a very good point when talking about the possibility of jail time for Manning Jr. because this would be a violation of probation. The point WCG makes is that for the NFL things are different, and he could probably get off on a fine and lots of community service. I would hope so if I was a Bears' fan; you don't want a big signing like that going to waste. (Windy City Gridiron)
- A player very near and dear to my heart... ok, not really. But, a player that I'm very familiar with because he attended Michigan and broke my heart by going to the Yankees instead of coming back for another season is Drew Henson. Henson went over to NFL Europe to improve his skills after a year with Dallas. Over at takes a good look at Henson's stats. It's a good read, especially if you remember Henson's days at Michigan.
