Harrington Trade to Miami Falls Through

The Lions were looking for a trade of Joey Harrington, and gave him permission to seek a team.  Harrington found the Miami Dolphins and worked out a contract, all that was left was a trade between Detroit and Miami.  The Lion's may have been too greedy, and now will pay for it.

On the second day of the draft, Detroit was hoping to trade Harrington to Cleveland for a 4th or 5th round draft pick.  Cleveland shied away after Harrington said he was going to Miami.  Now, that may be put on hold until June 15th.  Detroit wanted too much out of Miami, and now the Dolphins have said that they will wait until Harrington is released.

If he isn't cut, Harrington would stand to receive a 4 million dollar bonus on June 15th.  The Lions would obviously have to make a move then, and it appears Miami is just going to see what happens then.

All that was needed in this whole deal was a trade for something decent.  Millen was much too greedy and persistent, and now that will keep Joey in Detroit for at least another month.  We'll have to see what happens next, but for now, it looks like Detroit may not get anything for Joey Harrington.
