NFL Owners Coming to Detroit

The search to find a commissioner to replace Paul Tagliabue when he retires on or around August 18th has been underway for a few months now.  The part of the stage where you narrow down the choice to a certain amount of candidates is here.  The NFL owners are coming to Detroit on July 24th to narrow down the selection from twelve candidates to four.

Commissioner Paul Tagliabue's successor is expected to be elected by Aug. 9, allowing Tagliabue to retire on Aug. 18, his target date. NFL owners will meet July 24 in Detroit to try to narrow a dozen candidates to four. The owners will gather in Chicago two weeks later for a three-day selection meeting.
